Design Thinking at The Design Museum of Barcelona

Working with different teachers from all around the EU weekly, I hear a similar struggle across the board – traditional education often struggles to foster creativity and innovation as there are so many barriers (whether institutional, societal, or even individual). This often leave many teachers hesitant about integrating more dynamic methods in their classrooms. However, this week delivering a course on Entrepreneurship Education, I witnessed something incredible!

Teachers who were initially unsure about applying creativity in education not only embraced the design thinking process but actively used it in a real-world setting! Design Thinking AT the Design Museum in Barcelona, how cool! 👏

Using empathy-based problem-solving, they defined key challenges, brainstormed ideas, and reimagined ways to enhance visitor engagement, accessibility, and impact. They came up with some pretty fantastic ideas!

Seeing their transformation from apprehensive to innovative was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we give educators the tools to think critically: it’s something we all can do, if only we are given the supportive space to do so. These micro-moments of change are what keep me so passionate about the work that I do as an arts educator. 🚀🌍
