I just wrapped up a powerful week leading the ERASMUS+ Key Action 1 Staff Training course on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), one of my favorite courses!
The comment from one participant perfectly illustrates the ripple effect of this training: “All of the things I have learned I can apply to not only work but my personal life, and it will help me become a better teacher, wife, and mom.”
Social-Emotional Literacy is:
By teaching empathy and responsible decision-making, we equip young people to navigate conflict constructively and choose collaboration over confrontation. This is fundamental to creating safer schools and communities.
By giving students the tools to manage frustration, collaborate effectively, and understand diverse needs, we foster the mindset required for entrepreneurship and breakthrough problem-solving.
It provides the inner resources (self-management, self-awareness) necessary for educators and students alike to handle pressure, adapt to change, and persevere through challenges, ensuring long-term success.
I deeply admire the courage and willingness to be vulnerable shown by the educators this week, as they reflected on their social emotional relationship with themselves too. Their commitment will not only transform their classrooms but also shape the next generation of creative, empathetic leaders. ๐
Finishing the week feeling incredibly fulfilled and grateful for the opportunity to partner with ERASMUS+ on this essential global work. ๐
