Last night I attended Storytelling Barcelona, a free monthly event where people come together to listen to strangers tell stories. I walked into a packed room, everyone warm, welcoming, friendly… As the event started, we laughed, we gasped, we teared up, and most importantly…. we connected.
Stories do that, they pull us back to ourselves, to each other, to the world around us.
Reminded me of Mirna Smidtโs L&D SHAKERS workshop I attended a few weeks ago on storytelling, and of bedtime stories, campfires, books, moviesโฆ stories are all around us.
Thatโs why I love being a creative facilitator. Using drama as my main modality, I create spaces where people share their stories.
Sometimes it looks like kids processing big emotions through drama,
sometimes it looks like teams finding clarity and innovation through shared narrative,
and sometimes it looks like individuals rediscovering the value of their voice through sharing their own within.
Stories reconnect us to ourselves. To others. To what matters.
I invite you to find your local storytelling night! Youโll leave feeling connected – something we are in desperate need of these days. ๐ญโจ
