Applied Theatre

Embodied Learning

Why education through theatre? Theatre is a creative outlet that invites self-expression and inspires resilience. Its dynamic nature means that it can be shaped to deliver your material in an explorative way that is enriching, never boring, and embodied. I design and deliver applied theatre workshops that support embodied learning. My past workshops range from social emotional learning through games in schools to team building through storytelling for companies. Below is a small selection of some of my work in applied theatre.

Learning Off Book

I am the co-founder of Learning Off Book, an Edu-drama initiative. In our programmes, the learning material comes alive through tailored arts- based activities in which the students engage with their curriculum, off book. We design and deliver all of our original materials to schools across Barcelona.

Ouch Theatre Online Webinars

I design and deliver a range of applied theatre workshops for Ouch Theatre, an educational drama company. We work on topics such as Social Emotional Learning and Image Theatre, and together we explore how applied theatre can be incorporated into their curriculum for their learners.

Youth Programme

In the applied theatre youth programme, we explore theatre techniques like Devised Theatre, Forum Theatre, and more. It’s a creative and experimental space where students bring their own ideas and work together, develop their skills as a dramaturge while also continuing to gain confidence in self expression.

Fundraising Events

One off applied theatre workshops at fundraising events. This event was a fundraiser for Gaza, and generated over 2000 EUR in one evening. This particular workshop was created with themes of love and peace in mind, and we explored those with our bodies and through facilitated discussion.

Workshops with Parents & Kids

I design and deliver a range of applied theatre workshops for Ouch Theatre, an educational drama company. We work on topics such as Social Emotional Learning and Image Theatre, and together we explore how applied theatre can be incorporated into their curriculum for their learners.

Le Ran Performing Arts Center

I was the drama teacher for Le Ran Performing Arts Center, where I delivered applied theatre workshops for the students. They learned dramatic tools such as monologue and mime through play & theatre based games and activities in a collaborative and creative environment.

There is no doubt that theatre, and students’ wider skills development in this innovative club, can help transform them into better, more empathetic and caring individuals. They love [it] and look forward to it each week.
