Theatre is everywhere for me.
In the boardroom.
In the classroom.
In the words we choose when things get hard.
Let me give you some examples from this week.
I started with an ISTA board meeting, where we welcomed two new trustees, said goodbye to our chair, and introduced a new one.
An international board, made up of IB theatre examiners, public and private school teachers, assistant principals, heads of drama, freelance practitioners (me!)… all united by a shared belief in the power of arts education.
Then came Drama 101.
Demand was so strong we opened a second May session within an hour.
Educators know drama can unlock language learning, teamwork, critical thinking, confidence, and so much more. They just need the tools.
And then two intensive days of 1:1 media training for a high profile client.
Which, to me, is drama too.
Presence.
Pacing.
Voice.
Reading the room.
Knowing when a word can steady, shift, or break something open.
My work is drama.
Not as a metaphor.
As a practice.
As a way of thinking.
As a way of leading, communicating, teaching, and connecting.
That’s what excites me.
Drama doesn’t just shape how people learn.
It shapes how they show up, in work, in relationships, in life for themselves and others.
